Transitions and Summer News

Hey everyone, I had a couple of things I wanted to update you on and this seemed to be the best way to do that.  First, we have some staff transitions that you should know about (if you don't already) and secondly, I wanted to briefly update you on the building process.

Staff. If you weren't at one of the Sunday gatherings a few weeks ago you missed an important announcement about Sean Page. I am thankful to say he and Unique are not feeling like God is having them leave our church - or even involvement with out youth - but Sean does feel like he needs to head in a different vocational path.  He will be pursuing his M.A. in Chaplency at Multnomah University, which seems to be a great fit for him. Sean has truly been a blessing to work with and our staff loves him very much. He has been a core part of what we do at Colossae for over 5 years now and has been a critical part of helping us shape culture. Personally, I will miss working so closely with him.

That said, we have hired Jordan Hughes as our new youth pastor. He and his wife Ellie are wonderful and I am very excited for you to get to know them if you don't already.  To make sure we have the smoothest transition possible, Sean is staying on staff through June and Jordan started as of June 1. Sean and Jordan are really working hard to make sure everything gets passed along seamlessly. I trust you will find that to be true.

Additionally, I wanted to let you know that we have hired Jerrad Lopes to come help lead us as we seek to live in community with one another. Jerrad will obviously be working with Geoff Leatherman on this and will start June 15th. We are all very excited for Jerrad and Leila (and kids) to come be a part of our church. Jerrad has been on staff at Rolling Hills for the last 6 years or so and has had a fruitful ministry there. The transition has been really smooth. I have spoken with the pastor of Rolling Hills about this (and will even be having lunch with him soon) as well as the pastor that served as Jerrad's immediate supervisor. Although they are sad to see Jerrad go, they are also excited for Jerrad. It's a blessing to be able to work with another church in this type of transition. If you would like to see the video they put together for everyone at Rolling Hills regarding Jerrad's transition, click here.

Building. As you probably know, the construction on our new space is in full swing. Now that the space is pretty much all demo'd and the new walls are going up, it's fun to walk through and envision us using it. As we continue moving forward there will obviously be areas we could use some help in. We will definitely be letting you know about that. We still don't have a scheduled move in date, but it seems like we will be in by end of summer (that seems safe and hoping earlier). Some of you have again asked about giving toward the building. As we have stated previously we are not doing any sort of campaign, but if you would like to give extra toward this you can do so by clicking here or simply giving extra on a Sunday morning. We are putting all extra money directly back into replenishing our savings account.

So, there you go! If you have any questions or thoughts about any of this, please let us know.

See you Sunday,
Chuck
